Iran Press/Iran news: "As the world—minus 3 or 2 panicked cohorts—was breathing a sigh of relief over ouster of #B_Team's henchman in the White House, Pompeo & Mnuchin declared further escalation of #EconomicTerrorism against Iran," Mohammed Javad Zarif said in a tweet on Wednesday referring to the US new sanctions against Iran.
Describing Bolton as a warmonger-in-chief, Iran's Zarif noted that "Thirst for war—maximum pressure—should go with the warmonger-in-chief," Iran Press reported.
The US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he had fired national security adviser John Bolton after a string of disagreements.
While Bolton's departure drives hopes for easing of Trump's failed 'maximum pressure' campaign on Iran, Washington announced new sanctions against Tehran.
"You know we've done more sanctions on Iran than anybody, and it's absolutely working,” said the US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, standing alongside Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
"I would say Secretary Pompeo and myself and the president are completely aligned on our maximum pressure campaign," he added. 101/211
