Tankers trackers also tweeted that the move might sound like a joke by the crew. However, considering the uninviting situation for the crew who are kept as prisoners in the supertanker, it is unlikely to be merely a joke.

The British overseas territory Gibraltar seized an Iranian supertanker on Thursday, July 4, claiming that the move was done on suspicion of carrying crude oil to Syria in violation of European Union (EU) sanctions against the Arab country.
