Tehran (IP) - Iran's Government Spokesman has held a press conference on Monday saying the country should expand its relationship with its neighbours.

Iran PressIran news: Speaking at the press conference in Tehran, Iranian Government Spokesman Ali Rabiei stated: "Expanding economic and business relations with our neighbours is our objective. Last week president Rouhani travelled to Armenia for Eurasia agreement to have free trade. We hope to start implementing the agreement from October 27."

"Our relationship is not limited to our neighbours only; we are extending it with Europeans. The initiative of Hormuz Peace Endeavour is the key to extending relations with other countries," the official noted.

Ali Rabiei states: "Naturally we believe that no country must issue a statement against any other country, issuing a statement against other countries is the US policy, Trump must first resolve his issues with the Congress."

He said: "We support China fully.  China has always stood beside Iran when sanctions were slapped on us, but meddling in other countries internal affairs is the US policy."

He also said that Trump must first resolve his issue with Congress.

Rabiei further highlighted that Iran and Iraq are spiritually united saying: "Our main aim is to make a secure, strong and prosperous region."

Regarding sanctions against Iran, Rabiei said that the sanctions have brought some benefits to the country.

"During sanctions, the money was banned from entering the country, this matter caused worry and distress, but we improved and controlled the situation as soon as possible and are on the right track," the government spokesman added.

Regarding the Russian journalist's arrest in Iran, he affirmed the case and noted that her arrest is not for spying matters, and said that she has breached visa rules in Iran.
