Iranian Parliamentarian Mostafa Kavakebian

Tehran (IP) - Iranian Parliamentarian said if the European Union fail to fulfil its commitment toward the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) within the coming 10 days, Iran will take its third step more strongly.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian politician and MP representing Tehran in the parliament (Majlis) Mostafa Kavakebian said if the Europeans want Iran to remain within the JCPOA, then they must help Iran to bypass US sanctions and they must reduce the effect of sanctions on Iran, and they must ensure that Iran receives the economic benefits of signing up to JCPOA. 

Kavakebian reiterated that the Europeans must fulfil their obligations and commitments under the deal and they have only ten days or so to honour their obligations, reported Iran Press. 

Earlier in the morning, a senior Iranian MP and member of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh, played down the French President's efforts to reduce tensions between Tehran and Washington, saying such efforts are useless and unlikely to work.

On May 8, Iran notified its remaining partners in the 2015 nuclear deal that it would suspend the implementation of some of its commitments in reaction to the US’ unilateral withdrawal and Europe’s failure to live up to its commitments.

The first phase of the measure was kicked off on May 8 and the second phase started on July 7.

The open session of Iran's parliament got underway on Sunday morning, 25th August 2019, chaired by Speaker Ali Larijani, and attended by a total of 218 MPs.
