Tehran (IP) - Iranian Minister of Cooperatives, Labour, and Social Welfare has said skill-learning is one of the most significant needs of today's workforce given the industrial and manufacturing society in which we live .

Iran Press/Iran news: Mohammad Shariatmadari said that today the country's youth needs to be equipped with appropriate practical skills besides theoretical knowledge as two essential ingredients in sustainable productive jobs and that the ministry, as well as other Iranian entities particularly the general staff of armed forces, have recognized this fact.

He referred to inadequate success in equipping graduates from different fields with technical skills as one of the most significant defects of training in Iran.

The Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare jointly with the General Staff of Armed Forces provided skills training for about 500 thousand young people registered to do military service throughout the country, Shariatmadari added.

The minister added that with 6500 training courses held, nearly 130 thousand soldiers have already learned a useful skill in such areas as industry, agriculture, construction industry, the service sector, mechanics and car repair, and electrical technicians and engineers.

Iran compensates the low employment rate

Referring to Statistical Centre of Iran, the Minister of Cooperatives, Labour, and Social Welfare pointed out to the reduction of unemployment rate in the first quarter of the current year compared to the similar time last year, saying that it was achieved through cheap loans to areas with a population below 10,000 and villages, in a way the rural employment share increased from 3 percent to 25.3 percent according to the Statistical Centre of Iran.

He said although the enemies' sanctions against Iran may have reduced the foreign and domestic investment, Iran has used alternative ways including paying cheap sources for rural employment, skill training for graduates and those interested in economic activities, real training in a real workplace, as home-lancers.

With regard to home-lancers, Shariatmadari said that 93000 people were trained last year and 432 expositions held throughout the country to introduce their products to markets. 101/211/215
