IAEA Board meeting on the Iranian nuclear program, was held on July 10

Iran's foreign minister reacted to the meeting of UN's nuclear watchdog (IAEA), which follows a US request, and said US has no standing to raise JCPOA issues.

Iran Press/Iran news: Criticising the irony of IAEA Board of Governors meeting on US request, Mohammad Javad Zarif said in a tweet on Wednesday that US violated the JCPOA and punishes all who observe it.

"Irony of IAEA Board meeting on US request: a. US abhors JCPOA, axed & violates it, and punishes all who observe it; b. US has no standing to raise JCPOA issues; c. Iran fully complied with JCPOA per 15 IAEA reports; d. Iran's actions are lawful under para 36 of accord," he said.

IAEA Board meeting on Iran's nuclear program, was held on Wednesday, days after Tehran announced second phase of easing its commitments within framework of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The UN nuclear watchdog policing the deal told member states in a closed-door meeting that Iran is enriching uranium to 4.5% fissile purity, above the 3.67% limit set by its deal with major world powers.

Iran had informed the agency on Monday that “based on the operator’s assessment” the enrichment level was about 4.5%. The spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Behrouz Kamalvandi said earlier on Monday that the level had passed 4.5 percent.

During a press conference in Tehran, at the end of Iran’s 60-day deadline to the European countries, the spokesman announced the second phase of Iran’s retaliatory measures under the deal and said that uranium enrichment level would exceed the 3.67% limit.

Iran stresses that the reductions in commitments do not violate the nuclear deal, but they are based on paragraphs 26 and 36 of the agreement. 101/211
