Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said one of the main goals of China-Africa Cooperation Summit is to build a shared future for both sides.

Iran Press/Africa: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at a press briefing this morning said  one of the main goals of the Summit is to seek and expand converging interests between the two sides and jointly build a shared future for both China and Africa.

"In addition, both China and the African countries involved will work together to find new cooperation opportunities under the Belt and Road framework", Chinese Foreign Minister added.

"Further, the summit will lay out the key areas of cooperation, especially those related to the livelihoods of and employment opportunities for the people of Africa, over the next three years", Wang Yi noted.

"The last goal is to boost people-to-people communication between Chinese and Africans", Chinese Foreign Minister concluded.

The 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), which will be held on September 3 and 4, is set to attract the highest number of foreign leaders to China this year for a single event, according to Wang.

Chinese President Xi Jinping will deliver a speech introducing the new facets of China's cooperation with Africa during the opening ceremony.

Chinese and African leaders will hold round table discussions on September 4, with Xi and Cyril Ramaphosa, the president of South Africa, hosting one session each.

Two important documents - the Beijing Declaration and the Beijing Action Plan (2019-2021) - will be passed during the day.

Xi and Ramaphosa will then meet the media to introduce the results of the meeting.

The FOCAC is an official forum between China and almost every African state. There have been two summits held to date, with the most recent taking place on December 3 and 4, 2015 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The first summit was held in Beijing in November 2006.
