Speaker of Iran’s parliament Ali Larijani will visit Qatar for talks on relations between Tehran and Doha.

Iran PressMiddle East: Ali Larijani, at the head of a parliamentary delegation, is to arrive in Doha on Saturday and meet with senior Qatari officials.

The high ranking Iranian delegation will discuss mutual ties and regional developments with Qatari officials, Iran Press reported.

The Iranian parliament speaker visited Qatar in March 2015.

The two Persian Gulf littoral states have signed several protocols to increase bilateral trade and mutual cooperation.

On Feb. 17, Qatar's Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani expressed his gratitude over Iran's support for his country during embargo imposed by some Arab nations.

In June 2017, Saudi Arabia, the UAEBahrain, and Egypt severed diplomatic and trade ties with Qatar, accusing it of supporting terrorism, a charge that Doha denies. Iran and Turkey are helping wealthy Qatar to overcome the Saudi-led boycott.

Commerce between Iran and Qatar is increasing, Tehran said recently that trade had risen by $250 million in the 12 months to March as Doha becomes more reliant upon Iranian imports such as food products. 101/211
