Iran Two Major Football Clubs to be ceded to private sector

Tehran (IP): Iranian Parliament asked Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to cede country’s most popular football clubs of Esteghlal and Persepolis to the private sector, through stock markets.

Iran Press/Iran news: The long awaited privatization of the clubs should be done by contribution of the Securities and Exchange Organization (SEO) and Privatization Organization, before October.

Iran's Parliament approved a bill on Monday, obliging Iran Sport and Youth Ministry to provide conditions for reception of two sport-cultural institutions of Esteghlal and Persepolis in stock markets, Iran Press reported.

After reception of two clubs in stock markets, 5 percent of their stock will be put on auction to realize the real value of their stock.

Iran President Hassan Rouhani had already said that the government cannot get involved in business and manufacturing sector so that they back economic privatization. 101/205/213
