Iran celebrates Navy Day on November 28, commemorating the anniversary of a successful naval operation, known as 'Operation Morvarid'.

Iran Press/Iran news: During the 'Operation Morvarid' on 28 November 1980, the biggest Iraqi oil terminal was destroyed, paralyzing more than 50 percent of combat power of Iraqi Navy, while Iranian fleet suffered minor losses. 

According to Iran Press, 'Operation Morvarid', was a major Iranian Navy victory during the Iran-Iraq war.

Through forty years of continuous efforts to confront with the super powers, Iran's naval forces have become very powerful. The domain of Iran’s naval forces are active thousands of kilometers away from the region.

Iranian Armed Forces regularly conduct drills to maintain defensive readiness and to incorporate technologically new weapons systems.

On Nov. 26, Iran's Navy commander, Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi said that maritime zones of the country have full security.
