Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers bag two gold medals in the 2018 Asian Games underway in Indonesia on Wednesday.

Iran Press/Asia: Iranian Greco-Roman styler Mohammadali Geraei snatched a gold medal after he overpowered Akzhol Makhmudov of Kyrgyzstan 7-3 in the final bout of the 77-kilogram weight category at  Assembly Hall, Jakarta.

Additionally, Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler Hossein Nouri triumphed over Rustam Assakalov of Uzbekistan in the title challenge of the 87-kilogram weight class, and picked up the gold medal.

Iran’s wrestlers also pocketed 2 bronze medals in Greco-Roman style on Tuesday. In the 60-kg category, Mehrdad Mardani took the third place with an 8-nothing win over his Uzbek opponent, Islomjon Bakhramov.  

And in the 67-kg category Mohammadreza Geraei overpowered Hung Yinghua from Chinese Taipei 11-nothing to wrap up the victory in less than a minute.

Iranian freestyle wrestlers have previously won three gold medals in the Games.

Hassan Yazdani (86kg), Alireza Karimi (97kg) and Parviz Hadi (125kg) won three gold medals.

Iran is currently competing in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia with 378 athletes. Iran has competed at the Asian Games since the first event in 1951 Delhi, and the best achievement was in 1974, when the country hosted the event in Tehran, by ranked second with the acquisition of 36 gold, 28 silver and 17 bronze medals.  At the last edition in Incheon, the country wrapped up its campaign with 57 medals in all - 21 gold, 18 silver and 18 bronze

And so far in the 2018 Asian Games Medal Standings: China sit at the top with 37 gold and a total of 81 medals. Japan, South Korea are 2nd to 3th respectively, while Iran stand in 4th place with 7 gold medals, 3 silvers and 6 bronze.
