Iran Press/ Iran news: Speaking at a news conference on March 15, the Spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour said about the number of people infected with coronavirus in the country and the death toll caused by the virus in the country that from yesterday afternoon until today, according to the laboratory results, 1209 new cases of COVID-19 infected people were identified in the country and the total number of patients with the disease increased to 13938.
Fortunately, so far, 4,790 patients with Covid-19 have recovered and been discharged.
Iran's Ministry of Health Spokesman said: "Unfortunately, in the past 24 hours, 113 patients have died, and the death toll in the country has risen to 724."
The official warned people that to take COVID-19 seriously, saying that the older, the sick and over 60- year old are under threat more than others.
"Please do not take it for granted. All must cancel any trip to the northern part of the country. Our New Year celebration would not be commenced or kick-started at Mashhad given outbreak of coronavirus," he concluded.
The coronavirus outbreak began in December 2019 in Wuhan, China, and appears to have been originated from non-domestic animals. Chinese officials now admit that the virus probably spread in Wuhan in November or even earlier.
The COVID-19 viral disease that has swept into at least 153 countries, infected around 156,948 and killed 5,839 people is now officially a pandemic, according to the World Health Organization announcement on Wednesday, March 11.
The US administration has declared a national emergency over the coronavirus outbreak, the declaration comes amid criticism over the Trump administration's response to the coronavirus pandemic that has killed 41 people in the country.
