Highlighting the danger of Israel regime's illusion of "Greater Israel" to the security and peace of the region and the world, the Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized that the emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is a test for the Islamic Ummah in ending the aggression of the Israeli regime.

Why it matters:

The key way to stop the Israeli aggressive expansionism in the region passes only through the unity of the Islamic world, both in action and ideology; an issue which the Islamic Republic has always emphasized while asking for the emergency of OIC meetings.

The present trend sought by the Israeli regime shows the spillover of the expansionism into other regional states, making this summit a rare moment to forge a united regional and international front against Tel Aviv’s expansionist policies.

What he's saying:

Writing a column for Asharq Al-Awsat, Araghchi emphasized that the situation in Gaza constitutes “organized genocide” and poses a direct threat to regional stability.

Araghchi wrote: "The humanitarian catastrophe, coupled with the danger of further territorial encroachments by Israel, calls for urgent and coordinated action from the Islamic world."

He urged the imposition of military and economic sanctions on Israel, the legal prosecution of Israeli leaders in international courts, and the establishment of a humanitarian corridor to Gaza under the joint supervision of the United Nations and the OIC.

Araghchi warned that reliance on the promises of the “Abraham Accords” and delaying decisive measures would result in severe and irreversible losses for the Islamic Ummah.

The bottom line:

Referencing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s comments and maps promoting a so-called “Greater Middle East,” Araghchi warned that Tel Aviv’s ambitions threaten the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Islamic countries from Egypt and Jordan to Iraq and Saudi Arabia.
