Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday evening to participate in an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Foreign Ministers, which addresses the Gaza humanitarian situation.

Why it matters:

OIC is the second largest inter-governmental organisation after the United Nations, acting as the collective voice of the Muslim world to ensure and safeguard their interest in economic, social, and political areas.

The big picture:

The key way to stop the Israeli aggressive expansionism in the region passes only through the unity of the Islamic world, both in action and ideology; an issue which the Islamic Republic has always emphasized while asking for the emergency of OIC meetings.

State of play:

The present trend sought by the Israeli regime shows the spillover of the expansionism into other regional states, making this summit a rare moment to forge a united regional and international front against Tel Aviv’s expansionist policies.
