Tehran (IP) - Iran's Deputy Health Minister Alireza Raeisi has said his ministry plans to mobilise as many as 300,000 volunteers to contain the spread of Coronavirus.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iran's Deputy Health Minister Alireza Raeisi in an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Monday 2 March underlined that a number of governmental, non-governmental and military organizations have all declared their readiness to be part of an initiative to contain the Coronavirus outbreak.

The Ministry of Health and Medical Education cooperates with all the capacities offered to deal with the Coronavirus outbreak as efficiently as possible.

"We anticipate that we can mobilize 300,000 people working in these entities, and we are planning our campaign to slow and limit the spread of the Coronavirus," he added.

The Deputy health minister referred to the 1501 people who havebeen  diagnosed with Coronavirus, saying "We plan to disinfect their houses and to monitor their close contacts."

"We have established a health system in which 78 million people are registered and we plan to use the system to tackle the outbreak of Coronavirus," Alireza Raeisi noted.

The Coronavirus first emerged in China late last year and is now spreading in Europe, Americas and across the Middle East, sparking fears of a global pandemic.

In Iran, it has claimed 66 lives and infected 1,501 people, 291 of whom have fully recovered.
