IP - Four Yemeni workers were killed in a drone strike on a UAE operating gas facility in the Iraqi Kurdistan region.

Iran Press/ West Asia: The Khor Mor complex in Sulaimani province, managed by Dana Gas, has been a target in the past, but this recent attack marks the first time it resulted in fatalities.

According to Peshawa Hawramani, spokesperson for the Kurdistan regional government, the strike caused significant damage to the facility and will likely lead to power shortages in the area.

Hawramani emphasized the urgency of halting these repeated attacks and urged the federal government in Baghdad to identify and apprehend those responsible.

Iraqi security forces have initiated an investigation into the incident, promising to hold the perpetrators accountable.

Ramak Ramadan, district chief of Chamchamal, where the complex is situated, stated that the drone targeted a fuel storage tank around 6:45 pm local time, disrupting gas supply to regional power plants and resulting in a loss of 2500 megawatts of electricity.

Local electricity authorities have confirmed that efforts are in progress to mend the damage and reinstate the gas supply.

The attack has raised concerns about stability in the region, prompting Kurdish authorities to call on the federal government to take decisive action to prevent future incidents.

The gas field, located between Kirkuk and Sulaimani and managed by Kurdish authorities, has previously been targeted by unclaimed rocket attacks.
