IAEA should maintain its neutrality

Iran's ambassador and permanent representative to international organizations based in Vienna said International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) should maintain its neutrality and independence under the new presidency.

 Iran Press/ Europe: Referring to Rafael Grossi's appointment as the new Director-General of IAEA, Kazim Gharib Abadi said on Wednesday that Tehran has always emphasized IAEA's professionalism, independence, and impartiality.

Garib Abadi stated that Tehran expects the IAEA and its authorities to maintain this approach in all circumstances and member states shall refrain from exerting pressure on the Agency.

He urged He urged the new IAEA Director-General to play a proper role in maintaining the nuclear deal, like his predecessor.

Rafael Grossi was elected as the new Director-General of the IAEA Board of Governors on Tuesday.

Grossy has succeeded Yukia Amano, the former director-general of the organization.

Yukia Amano died July 22 at the age of 72.
