The Iranian Foreign Minister, in a meeting with the Developing-8 Organization’s Secretary General described the grouping as a useful regional mechanism.

Iran PressIran News: The Group of Eight Developing Islamic Countries with the abbreviated name of Group D8 (D8), is an economic group consisting of eight developing Islamic countries; Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Egypt and Nigeria.

Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with Secretary General of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation Isiaka Abdulqadir Imam which was held on the sidelines of the 26th Meeting of the ECO Council of Ministers (COM) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, described this group as a useful regional mechanism on the sidelines of the meeting of ECO's Foreign Ministers in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, and during the meeting with Isaka Imam, the Secretary General of D8.

In this meeting, the Secretary General of D8 presented a report on the performance of this organization and while pointing out the effective role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the developments and interactions within the organization, he called for a meeting of the energy ministers of the D8 member countries.

While appreciating the submitted report, Amir-Abdollahian stated: "The Islamic Republic of Iran will fully support the activities and cooperation of this organization". 219
