Tehran (IP) - Iranian Minister of Culture left the country for Mauritania to take part in the ceremony introducing Nouakchott as the cultural capital of the Islamic World.

Iran PressAfrica: Leading a delegation, Mohammad Mahdi Esmaili arrived in Nouakchott on Friday morning and was welcomed by the Mauritanian officials. 

The Islamic Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) selected Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania, as the cultural capital of the Islamic World in 2023. 

The event is scheduled to be participated by a number of ministers and cultural officials of the Islamic and Arab countries, namely the Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani.

The Iranian Minister of Culture is scheduled to meet with the President of Mauritania and a number of other countries' foreign ministers and guests during his two-day trip.
