Tehran (IP) - In a telephone call with his Bulgarian counterpart, the Foreign Minister of Iran emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran is against the continuation of the war in Ukraine and is working for a ceasefire.

Iran PressIran news: In a phone call, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, Nikolay Milkov, emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran is against the continuation of the war in Ukraine and is working for a ceasefire.

Amir-Abdollahian expressed his gratitude for Bulgaria's position in condemning the terrorist act of ISILin the shrine of Hazrat Shahcheragh (AS) in Shiraz and emphasized the importance of bilateral relations on the eve of the 125th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran referred to the recent talks between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna.

Amir-Abdollahian stressed the developments in Ukraine saying: "We are against the continuation of the war in Ukraine and we are working for a ceasefire."

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran further reminded that, based on Security Council Resolution 2231, we do not have a ban on the export and import of weapons, but we have not given any weapons to Russia to be used in the Ukraine war. Our position is against the expansion of NATO in the region and against the war in Ukraine.

At the end, Amir-Abdollahian explained Tehran's positions regarding holding the extraordinary meeting of the UN Human Rights Council and any political behavior against Iran.

In this telephone conversation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria also emphasized the continuation of efforts to hold a joint commission in 2023, referring to the long-standing and good relations between the two countries.

Nikolay Milkov thanked the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the explanations regarding the developments in Ukraine and the position of Tehran in opposing the continuation of the war and pursuing political solutions to resolve the crisis in Ukraine and further added:

 "The Bulgarian government always supports the process of revitalizing the JCPOA and realizing the agreement between Iran and the international community."
