Tehran (IP) - Iran's Army Navy reported that the Squadron No.83 of the naval forces conflicted with the pirates in the Red Sea.

Iran PressMiddle East: According to the Islamic Republic of Iran's Navy, a pirate boat with 12 armed crew approached an Iranian commercial ship near Bab Al-Mandab Strait, but the pirates' boat escaped as the Jamaran Destroyer, escorting the ship, opened fire at them.

This is the third time in the past month that the army's 83rd squadron clashed with suspicious boats in the Red Sea.

Since the 2000s, and with the threat of piracy in the Red Sea getting serious, Iran's Navy dispatched support squadrons to the region, including a combat vessel and a support vessel.

Since then, the Navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran has protected thousands of Iranian and non-Iranian ships passing the strait. In various cases, it has directly clashed with the pirates and released the ships hijacked.
