Iran Press/ Middle East: Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian arrived in the capital Damascus at the head of a delegation this morning.
Upon his arrival at Damascus Airport, the Iranian foreign minister was received by his Syrian counterpart Faisal Mekdad.
During the meeting between the Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus, they exchanged views on several political issues of common interest.
Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian arrived in Damascus on Saturday to discuss and exchange views with high Syrian officials and was welcomed by the country's Foreign Minister Faisal Al-Maqdad at the airport.
Western powers support Israeli regime's aggressions by silence
Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, during his meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus on Saturday, called the silence of the Western claimant countries against the aggressive actions of the Zionist regime an indication of the double standards of these countries.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran also emphasized solving the region's problems through dialogue and cooperation and clarified that Iran is against resorting to military operations to solve the issues.
Appreciating the efforts of the Syrian government and president in consolidating the national unity, territorial integrity, and sovereignty of this country, Amirabdollahian added that the opponents of the territorial integrity and independence of Syria are trying to destroy the situation of this country.
Bashar Assad, the President of the Republic of Syria, also called the Iranian Foreign Minister's visit to Damascus important in the current situation, considering the regional and global developments, and stated that a situation is emerging that will change the balance in the region in our favor.
Western countries seek instability in Syria
Bashar Assad condemned the actions of Western countries to provoke the situation in Syria to settle accounts, compete and score points from other parties.
Palestine cause; common concern for Iran, Syria
The President of the Republic of Syria called Palestine a matter of common concern to the Islamic Republic of Iran and Syria and reminded that, due to the pressures on the countries of the axis of resistance, an alliance had been formed, which is an alliance of wills in confronting the domination system, and of course, few countries in the world have such an alliance.
The Iranian Foreign Minister referred to the ongoing talks on the Iranian nuclear agreement, saying: "Tehran has made initiatives in this regard in line with the rights and interests of the Iranian people, stressing that reaching a consensus requires a serious will on the part of the Western parties to respond to these initiatives.

For his part, he stressed to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad the correctness of Iran's path in the ongoing talks on the Iranian nuclear agreement, through its adherence to principles and rights and not compromising in the face of pressures it is subjected to, considering that in politics there are no intentions but standards and principles, and that it is more important to serve the interests of Iran, the region, and the global balance.
The two sides also agreed on the importance of intensifying communication between the two countries amid the changes taking place at this critical stage the world is going through.
