Damascus(IP)- Iran's foreign minister says Tehran understands its neighbor, Turkey's concerns, and strongly opposes any military operation with whatever justifications.

Iran PressMiddle East: Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian arrived in Syria at the head of a delegation to discuss the latest issues with Syrian officials. 

Iran's Foreign Minister in a press conference with his counterpart, Fayssal Mikdad said: Iran condemns the Zionist aggression in the south of Tartus this morning. With its aggression, the Zionist regime is trying to make Damascus look like an unsafe city in order to block the return of Syrian refugees.

Amir-Abdollahian had a short trip to Turkey last week and discussed Syria's developments with the country's president and foreign minister.

Iranian Foreign Minister also told reporters that the recent visit of Syrian President Bashar Assad to the Islamic Republic of Iran was a turning point in the relations between the two countries.

Expressing his consent over the trip to Syria, Iran's foreign minister said that Iran strongly condemns the Zionist regime's recent invasions of Syrian territorial integrity. He said the Zionists seek to destabilize Syria and add to Syrians' problems by imposing sanctions against the country.  

He added: "Now that the Syrians are returning to their cities, the Zionist regime aims to wrongly show Damascus insecure."  

Iranian FM stressed that the Syrian leader, government, and people would defend their country's territorial integrity resolutely.

He pointed out, "We understand Turkey's concerns, and oppose any military operation with whatever justification, and do our best to resolve misunderstandings between Syria and Turkey through diplomacy."    

During the welcome ceremony for his Iranian counterpart, the Syrian Foreign Minister, Fayssal Mikdad said that Damascus seriously supports Iran's stance on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action(JCPOA).

Expressing the importance of the visit as it comes following many local, regional and international developments whether in Syria or in Iran, Mikdad told Journalists in a statement that “the two countries hold continuous and close consultations about all developments.”

He added that the situation in Syria needs more consultations between the two friendly countries, especially the Israeli repeated acts of aggression on Syrian territory, in addition to Israeli threats launched against Iran, which aim at weakening the resistance front.

regarding the continuing attacks of the Zionist regime against Syria and its attempts to weaken the Syrian axis of resistance, he stressed that the incidents should be investigated.
