Tehran (IP) - The ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Russia said that one of the important issues between Iran and Russia was the use of national currencies, Rubles and Rials.

Iran PressIran News: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on the sidelines of Iranian and Russian officials' joint meeting to sign cooperation agreements between the two countries, Kazem Jalali said both sides also discussed the transit issue as well.

Leading a high-ranking delegation, the Russian Deputy Prime Minister has traveled to Tehran and will hold technical and specialized talks with their counterparts in Iran to further boost cooperation.

Jalali said: "Since Russia is Iran's maritime neighbor, we should use an intermediary country for land transits, which requires the regulation of relations and the expansion of some border crossings, in order to be able to work together at full capacity."

The ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Russia referred to the active Iran-Russia railways and stated: "There was a railway to Bandar Abbas and St. Petersburg, but the Rasht-Astara section was yet not available, and that decision was made in this regard."

Still, referring to the capabilities of the Caspian Sea, Jalali described the Sea as an inherent advantage for the Islamic Republic of Iran and stressed the improvement of port cooperation because Iran and Russia were maritime neighbors.

Jalali also pointed to another area of cooperation, saying: "We have customs and logistics discussions with the Russian side, so a decision was made for the visit of the director-general of Iran's customs to Russia and the follow-up on the relevant issues."
