Nigeria (IP) - Angry youth in Nigeria's Bauchi State besieged Yalwa Divisional Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force and blocked the Dass-Tafawa Balewa highway on Friday to protest the killing of three people by a member of the Nigeria Police Force.

When the special squad of Police arrived at the protest arena, they fired teargas to disperse the youth, but protestors started to throw stones, which made some police officers wounded.

According to Abdulaziz Musa, an eyewitness who spoke to Iran Press News Agency, on Thursday, a patrol team containing Police officers and members of the Peace and Security Committee went to Rafin Zurfi to arrest one Police officer named Lukman Madaki. In his bid to resist the arrest, he stabbed three members of the Peace and Security Committee using a jackknife; two died while the third one also died at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital.

The Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmad Wakili, told journalists that the policeman had been arrested and an investigation had been commenced.

Bauchi State Commissioner of Police has called on the angry youth protestors to be calm and assured them that justice would be done on the matter.
