Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development left for Baku on Thursday morning to attend the 15th meeting of the commission and talks to increase transport cooperation.

Iran PressAsia: Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development Rostam Ghasemi left for Baku on Thursday morning as the head of the Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Cooperation Commission to attend the 15th meeting commission and talks to boost transport cooperation.

According to Iran press from the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, Ghasemi will consult with his Azerbaijani counterpart on increasing the volume of trade between the two countries.

Trade volume between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan has reached $ 300 million in the last eight months, of which $ 252 million has been exported to Azerbaijan, and $ 290 million has been imported from this country.

Improving cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan in the field of road transport due to the increase in traffic with more than 70,000 trucks and the re-launch of the Nakhchivan-Mashhad-Nakhchivan passenger train will be one of the focuses of the Minister of Roads and Urban Development.

During this trip, Ghasemi will discuss the resumption of flights between The National Airline of Iran and other companies to Azerbaijan and increase the number of flights with his Azerbaijani counterpart.

Reducing or eliminating the tolls of the Iranian fleet commuting to the territory of Azerbaijan will be one of the essential axes of this trip.

During this trip, Ghasemi will emphasize the need to resume the activities of regular bilateral passenger services by the health regulations, considering the vaccination of more than 80% in Iran.

Follow-up of the Astarachai bridge construction project, completion of the Astara railway dock project, and the Rasht-Astara railway project as part of the north-south corridor are other topics of the Minister of Roads and Urban Development's visit to Azerbaijan.

Considering that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev had invited Iranian companies to rebuild the liberated areas, the reconstruction of the free areas, including the cities of Fuzuli, Gabriel, Zangilan, and Agdam, will also be discussed during the visit.
