Tehran (IP) - The first vice president said that Iran has never sought nuclear weapons, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has not achieved any evidence in recent years that Iran's nuclear program is military.

Iran PressIran News: In a meeting with Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Mohammad Mokhber, First Vice President of Iran, stressed the IAEA's neutrality and added: "The world expects the IAEA to pursue the countries' nuclear programs professionally."

The Iranian first vice president also stressed the need to expand the cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the IAEA to develop a peaceful nuclear program, adding: "The main reason for establishing the IAEA is to help develop peaceful nuclear knowledge around the world, and for this purpose, Tehran is ready to expand cooperation with the IAEA."

Pointing out that the history of Iran shows that the Iranians have always sought to promote science and knowledge and help humanity, Mokhber said: "To meet energy, industrial, health, medical and basic needs, Iran is looking for peaceful nuclear technology, and we must be self-sufficient in this area."

Grossi said for his part: "We hope that in the next visit to Tehran, the ideas of cooperation for the development of a peaceful nuclear program and the promotion of knowledge in Iran will be implemented."

Stressing that all countries, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, have the right to utilize nuclear science for health, industry, and energy, Grossi added: "The joint commitment and cooperation between Iran and the IAEA is in the interest of the people of Iran and the world."

"Iran's scientific and religious background has shown that its people have always contributed to the development of world peace and progress," Grossi said.
