Iran Press/ Iran News: "The United States does not want lasting security and comprehensive peace in Afghanistan and is fomenting discord among different Afghan groups," Hossein Akbari told Iran Press on Monday.
Speaking on the sidelines of a webinar on "Afghanistan, Peace and Sustainable Security," the deputy secretary-general of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening stated: "The consistent and principled policy of the Islamic Republic has always been to be with the people of Afghanistan and the interests of the Afghan people have always been taken into account in Iran's policies."
He stressed that the only way to return peace and security to the Afghans is through negotiations.
After leaving Afghanistan, he said, the Americans were looking for war and unrest in the country. "This war and insecurity is both to the detriment of the Afghan people and will affect the countries of the region."
"As Afghanistan's neighbor, Iran is making every effort to establish security in Afghanistan," he concluded.
The webinar entitled "Afghanistan, Peace and Sustainable Security" was held by the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening with the attendance of various Afghan and international groups and parties influential in the Afghan peace process.
