Football:

Wales will be the happier of the sides after hanging on in the Baku heat and securing a 1-1 draw with Switzerland in their opening game at Euro 2020.

Ian PressEurope: The Welsh side struggled to keep the ball for long periods and went behind after the excellent Breel Embolo headed home from a corner early in the second half. Wales showed character and Kieffer Moore’s brilliant header was enough to secure a point.

Moore, keeper Danny Ward, and Manchester United’s Daniel James were the bright sparks from a Welsh perspective, but Switzerland will see this as a missed opportunity, particularly given their dominance late on.

UEFA EURO 2020 is being held across 11 host cities from 11 June 2021, but both semi-finals and the final will be held at Wembley Stadium in London.
