Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski on Saturday equaled Gerd Mueller's 49-year-old German league goal record when he scored with a 26th minute penalty against Freiburg to take his season tally to 40 goals, Reuters reported.

Iran PressEuropeLewandowski, FIFA's best male player of 2020, has equaled Mueller's record, scored over 34 games in 1971/72, in just 28 league games this season due to last month's knee injury and squad rotation.
