Iran Press/Iran news: Mahmoud Vaezi, met with Shahin Mustafayev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran on Tuesday night, saying: "Disputes between countries, especially neighbors, must be resolved through negotiation, and foreign interference has only intensified differences and conflicts between neighbors, endangering peace and stability in the region."
Vaezi also said that holding multilateral meetings such as the Iran, Russia, and Azerbaijan trilateral summit or the summit with the participation of five countries of Iran, Republic of Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkey, and Armenia would bring neighboring countries closer to each other and develop constructive and beneficial regional economic cooperation.
The Chief of Staff of the President of Iran added: "The Islamic Republic of Iran considers its border with the Republic of Azerbaijan as the border of peace and friendship and has always respected the territorial integrity of all countries."
Vaezi also noted that Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan should do their best to accelerate the implementation of joint projects such as the construction of railways, dams, and power plants to provide a platform for further expansion of interactions and relations.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan also considered the relations between Baku and Tehran and Iran's comprehensive support to the Republic of Azerbaijan in recent years as a source of encouragement for the people and the government of the country and appreciated the principled positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Shahin Mustafayev, noting that the Republic of Azerbaijan has always respected the territorial integrity of all countries, said: "Iran, as a great country and a friendly neighbor, has a special place among the people and government of the Republic of Azerbaijan."
The conflict between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia over the Nagorno-Karabakh region began in 1988 and escalated into a military conflict in 1992, as a result of which the Nagorno-Karabakh region of the Republic of Azerbaijan and seven neighboring cities were occupied by Armenian forces.
So far, many countries, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, have called for an immediate end to the conflict and the start of talks between Baku and Yerevan.
