The Ansarullah resistance movement has made clear that a truce with the United States regarding Red Sea attacks will not impact Yemen’s ongoing military operations against the Israeli regime, as the movement reaffirms its unwavering support for Gaza.

Why it matters:

Despite U.S. diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Red Sea, Ansarullah’s firm stance signals continued support for the oppressed people of Palestine amid the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza.

The big picture:
Since the Israeli genocide in Gaza began in October 2023, Yemen has launched dozens of missile and drone strikes targeting Israeli infrastructure and allied shipping routes, including recent attacks on Ben Gurion Airport.

The U.S. reached a temporary agreement—mediated by Oman—with Yemeni Ansarullah to halt attacks in the Red Sea. However, Ansarullah clarified that the agreement only pertains to attacks on U.S. vessels, not the Israeli regime or Israeli-linked targets.

What he's saying:

Mohammed Abdul-Salam, Ansarullah spokesman:

“The deal has nothing to do with our stance on Gaza.”

“Support for Palestine will continue and expand in better ways.”

“If the U.S. resumes its aggression, we will resume our operations too.”

“Trump’s statement reflects a shift in the U.S. position, not ours.”

“The U.S. failure to protect Israeli ships shows its incompetence.”

Key points:

  • Ansarullah's actions against the Israeli regime are part of broader support for Palestinians.
  • Yemen says any U.S. breach of the informal truce will trigger renewed attacks by Yemeni forces.
