In a consultative meeting of the Arab Foreign Ministers which was held in New York on Monday, September 23, 2024, the Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mr. Fuad Hussein presented a proposal on behalf of Iraq to hold a joint Arab and Islamic summit.

Iran Press/West Asia: According to a statement issued by Iraq's Foreign Ministry, this proposal came as part of Iraq’s efforts to urge the Arab and Islamic countries to take a unified stance towards the continuous attacks of the Israeli entity against Lebanon.

The Minister stressed the need to unify the Arab and Islamic efforts and work to mobilize diplomatic and political support to force the aggressor to stop its aggression and respect the sovereignty and security of Lebanon. In his speech, Minister Fuad Hussein affirmed the importance of Arab and Islamic action to stop the expansion of the war in the region, and the threat to international peace and security.

The Foreign Ministry reiterated its commitment to supporting Lebanon and its sovereignty and called on the international community to intervene immediately and stop the attacks to maintain the stability of the region.
