The Iranian ambassador to Kuala Lumpur and the Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry discussed ways to develop trade and economic relations between the two countries.

Iran Press/ Asia: Iranian Ambassador to Kuala Lumpur Ali-Asghar Mohammadi met with Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry Mohamed Azmin Ali on Tuesday evening to discuss the progress of the two sides' talks on the preferential tariff agreement, and the bilateral trade process in the current situation.

Referring to the situation caused by the coronavirus outbreak in Iran and the problems of not having access to essential items such as medicine and medical equipment due to unilateral US sanctions, Mohammadi called the deaths due to the US inhumane policies a crime against humanity.

The Iranian ambassador to Malaysia also expressed Tehran's interest in developing relations with Kuala Lumpur in the areas of health and food security.

The Malaysian minister expressed his sympathy with the Iranian people in the face of US sanctions, stressing the Malaysian government's determination to strengthen and develop relations with Iran.

Azmin Ali stated that maintaining and expanding relations with Iran is one of the permanent and stable policies of Malaysia and expressed hope that a joint economic commission will be held as soon as possible with the lifting of traffic restrictions caused by the coronavirus.
