Tehran (IP) - In his sworn-in ceremony in the Iranian parliament, the new president of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, said that the experience of two decades of negotiations must have shown that pressure and sanctions are not effective, and that they should speak to the Iranian people with respect.

Iran PressIran news:  In the swearing-in ceremony in the Iranian parliament in the presence of foreign officials, Masoud Pezeshkian said: We want to reduce the worries and dissatisfaction of our people and return Iran and the region to their rightful place.

Pezeshkian called on the Western countries to understand the facts and establish relations based on mutual respect and equal status and stated: We are ready to talk with governments that have not yet understood Iran's dignity and position by managing tension.

"The world needs to seize this unparalleled opportunity for addressing regional and global issues through the collaboration of a powerful, peace-seeking, and dignified Iran,” the president said.

He expressed his commitment to safeguarding Iran's dignity and interests on the international stage, with the backing of the Iranian people and the Leader, while trying to forge consensus among all political factions within the country.

Iran's new president highlighted three key principles: dignity, wisdom, and expediency.

He promised that constructive engagement with the world would be the cornerstone of his government's approach to foreign affairs.

Pezeshkian also emphasized the need for a region free from the influence of extremists, asserting that regional countries should not allow a few radical voices to misrepresent nearly two billion free-thinking Muslims.

The president further emphasized: The priority of my government's foreign policy is to improve and strengthen relations with neighboring countries. Neighboring countries should not waste their valuable resources in tensions and erosive competitions.

"My government will want a strong region," said Pezeshkian. A region where all neighboring countries can take a common step for economic development, progress, and improvement. A region whose security will be provided by the countries of the region and the pretext of the presence of foreign powers will be removed.

He continued: A region that does not allow a few extremists and dogmatists to trap nearly two billion peace-loving and free-thinking Muslims in the false narrative of Islamophobia. Islam is the religion of peace, and those who claim human rights, who have a history full of xenophobia and violation of people's rights, cannot consider themselves superior to Muslims, who were the symbol of tolerance and the leader of science.

The President continued: Those who provide weapons to kill children in Gaza cannot teach humanity and tolerance to others. No one in the world accepts the support and encouragement of the head of a regime that fights with women and children and drops bombs on them. It seems that for some claimants of civilization, the fundamental rights of people are measured based on their skin color, language and religion.

Pezeshkian added: You cannot call yourself human and remain silent in the face of all these crimes. We want a world in which the proud Palestinian people are freed from occupation, oppression, and genocide, and the dreams of no Palestinian child are buried under the rubble of their father's house.
