Esfandiari, an Iranian student living in France, was arrested by the country's police in late February 2025, for supporting the resistance of the people of Gaza.
Her release, after 14 months of imprisonment, came following an understanding between Tehran and Paris.
According to this agreement, the French government pledged to fully release Mahdieh Esfandiari and withdraw the complaint filed against Iran at the International Court of Justice in exchange for the release of two French citizens accused of espionage in Iran.
