In an exclusive interview with Iran Press News Agency, Professor Abdullahi Danladi of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, in northern Nigeria, said that Iran's military and strategic posture, which played a significant role in its success against adversaries, has attracted widespread attention. He noted that while interpretations of outcomes vary across political and ideological lines, several internal factors have undeniably contributed to Iran's operational capacity.
"First and foremost, Iran's victory is the result of absolute and total reliance on Allah the Almighty, because Iran is being run according to Islamic teachings," Professor Danladi said. "Secondly, the upholding of the school of martyrdom – the madrasa of Imam Hussain (AS) or the path of Ashura – serves as a role model. The people of Iran are ready to sacrifice their lives just as Imam Hussain did for the emancipation of Islam from evil rulers. People of Iran who take up the lessons of Ashura can never be defeated."
The professor added that the third factor is the God-fearing leadership of Iran, which has surrendered to Allah and earned the confidence and trust of its people. "Imagine, when Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was asked to relocate to a safer place, he said no – he would not go anywhere unless the entire masses were relocated to a safer place," Danladi recalled.
He also highlighted Iran's serious investment in education, noting that the results are obvious to the world. "Just yesterday I was reading that Iran has the largest number of PhD theses in the whole world. This shows how much they value education," he said. "When you see drones flying, when you see ballistic missiles, you know that somewhere, someone has sat down and done their homework."
Professor Danladi pointed out that Iran learned many lessons from the eight-year imposed war by former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, who had the support of the US and its allies. That war, he said, compelled Iran to engage in long-term planning and preparations for over forty years, knowing that a conflict with America and Israel would eventually come.
He urged African nations to follow Iran's example – relying on Allah, following the teachings of the Holy Prophet, investing in education, and using the lessons of Ashura, which he said can only be found in the school of the Ahlulbayt – to liberate the continent from the shackles of America and the West.
