Iran Press/ Asia: President Raisi's departure from Karachi's Jinnah International Airport was marked by a ceremonial send-off led by Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Pakistan’s Federal Minister of Housing, and the Governor of Sindh Province.
The Iranian leader had arrived in Karachi earlier this week, where he paid his respects to Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan. He also met with local government officials and addressed a congregation of Pakistan's scientific and economic leaders. Additionally, President Raisi was honored with a doctorate degree from the University of Karachi.
The president's visit to Sri Lanka, at the invitation of Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, is slated to last one day. During his stay, he will attend the inaugural ceremony of the "Umaaviya Multi-purpose Super Project," which features the construction of two dams and a 120 MW power plant, projects undertaken by Iranian contractors.
This visit underscores the strengthening ties between Iran and its South Asian counterparts, focusing on collaboration in infrastructure and energy sectors.
