Tehran (IP)- The sixth session of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation between Iran and Iraq was launched on Sunday in Tehran, with prominent figures in attendance. Among them were Ali Fekri, Deputy Minister and Head of Iran's Organization for Economic Investment and Technical Assistance, engineer Hussein Abdul Amir Bakah, Deputy Technical Director of Iraq's Ministry of Water Resources, and Sattar Jabbar Al-Jaberi, Deputy Minister of Commerce in Iraq.

Iran PressIran news:  Expressing appreciation for Iran's hospitality, Al-Jaberi emphasized the Iranian government's dedication to promoting investments, strengthening foreign relations, facilitating economic interactions, and supporting joint ventures.

During the meeting, Al-Jaberi outlined the comprehensive agenda of the economic commission, encompassing discussions on commercial cooperation, standards, customs, finance, industry, agriculture, energy, transportation, technology, construction, urban services, consular affairs, cultural exchanges, tourism, healthcare, sports, and youth development.

The ongoing sixth meeting of the Iran-Iraq Economic Cooperation Commission is scheduled to extend until May 6 in Tehran.

Ali Fekri disclosed that preliminary committees would address the current issues during the sixth session of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation between Iran and Iraq. The finalized agreements are anticipated to be signed by senior officials from both nations within two days.

The Head of Iran's Organization for Investment Economic and Technical Assistance announced forthcoming discussions between Iran and Iraq regarding 23 documents covering diverse sectors like energy, transportation, trade, export of technical and engineering services, investment, finance, and banking.

Fekri mentioned that these negotiations would lead to the signing of minutes on Monday afternoon during the joint commission meeting between Iran's Minister of Economy and Iraq's Minister of Trade.

He further elaborated that specialized committees focusing on energy, transportation, trade, technical and engineering services, investment, finance, and banking would review the cases. Currently, 10 documents are under negotiation while 13 others are ready for discussion.

Additionally, Fekri emphasized the inclusion of projects such as industrial town development, balancing economic relations between both countries, joint investments, and the removal of trade barriers as part of the agenda.
