Malian Minister of Foreign Affairs called for an immediate ceasefire and for the major countries that condone what is happening to assume responsibility and help stop the massacre of the Palestinian population. He also proposed a political roadmap based on the two-state solution, which would enshrine the creation of the Palestinian state. Diop stated that Mali delivered this message on behalf of the transitional president and that the resolution could weigh on the scales.
He acknowledged that declarations alone would not solve the problem. He called for coordinated initiatives and concrete actions, stating that the unity of the Muslim world would be a determining factor for a solution. Diop emphasized that only the creation of a Palestinian state could solve this problem and that the ongoing massacre would not bring any solution, but rather lead to the mobilization of many other resistance groups on the Palestinian side, perpetuating a cycle of revenge.
The 15th meeting of heads of state of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) recently took place in Banjul, Gambia, with the attendance of Iran's foreign minister.
