Iran's Foreign Minister delivering a speech at the UN Security Council stated that Iran has always played a positive role in establishing stable peace and security in the West Asia region, including the fight against terrorism.

Iran PressIran news: Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, attended the United Nations Security Council meeting on Palestine, stating: "Iran's legitimate defense and proportionate countermeasures have now ended, therefore, the Israeli regime should be forced to stop repeating any further military adventures against Iran's interests.

Iran said at the United Nations Security Council on Thursday that Israel “must be compelled to stop any further military adventurism against our interests.”

“In case of any use of force by the Israeli regime and violating our sovereignty, the Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate a bit to assert its inherent rights to give a decisive and proper response to it to make the regime regret its actions,” said Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.

He went on to say: "Undoubtedly, in case of any use of force by the Israeli regime and aggression against Iran's interests, the Islamic Republic of Iran would not hesitate for a moment to assert its inherent right to give an immediate, decisive and strong response to it and make this regime definitely and completely regret. This is an irreversible decision."

Amir-Abdollhian added: "The April 1 missile attack by the Israeli terrorist regime on the embassy building of Iran in Damascus showed that this regime does not even hesitate to violate the fundamental principle of immunity of diplomatic persons and places, and easily ignores the Vienna Conventions. As most members of the Security Council declared at the April 2 meeting of the United Nations Security Council, this attack was a clear violation of the United Nations Charter, international law and the Vienna Conventions, and therefore it is strongly condemned."

Iran's top diplomat stated that no government will ever face such a brazen and serious missile attack on its country's embassy, which is considered one of the symbols of its sovereignty, as well as the killing (and martyrdom) of its legal, official and diplomatic agents.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, which until recently had shown considerable restraint against other terrorist missile attacks by the Israeli regime to prevent the expansion of the scope of the conflict, considering the situation in the region and giving a chance to the role of the United Nations.

Amir-Abdollahian added: "Iran's retaliatory strike was necessary because, first, there was no other option. Second, it was not initially against residents, but in response to a series of crimes and missile attacks by the Israeli regime against Iran's interests, especially against Tehran's embassy in Syria; Thirdly, it was done in the fulfillment of Iran's right to legitimate defense under international law; Fourth, it was done by observing the standard of non-aggression to civilian people and places; and fifthly, it focused solely on the two military installations of the Israeli regime that were used in the attack on Iranian embassy. Therefore, it was limited and proportional in terms of scope and military necessities.

Iranian top diplomat reiterated that when we talk about sustainable security and stability in the region and countering terrorism, it is impossible not to mention the very effective and prominent role of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in the fight against terrorism. It is impossible not to appreciate the sacrifice of its generals and commanders, especially Major General Qassem Soleimani.

He said: "Undoubtedly, the sacrifice of General Soleimani and the Revolutionary Guards in restoring peace to the region and helping the government and people of Iraq and Syria is known to everyone. In this framework, Iran's anti-terrorism military advisers will continue their efforts to achieve stable security in the region."

The extensive military attacks of this Israeli regime have all the material and spiritual elements of the crime of aggression, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and the crime of genocide, and therefore cause the international responsibility of the regime and its allies, and require the trial and punishment of all the commanders, perpetrators, and supporters of those crimes, Amir-Abdollhian noted.

Iran's top diplomat added that Tel Aviv's destabilizing actions in the region are a real threat to peace and security, and preventing this process is an urgent and definite necessity; an issue that is considered to be the inherent duty of the Security Council.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, while appreciating the positive efforts of the Secretary General of the United Nations in supporting the rights of the Palestinian people, along with many governments and countries of the world, urges this council to use all its available powers and capacities to immediately stop the Israeli criminal attacks.

Amir-Abdollhian concluded: "I would like to reiterate that the root of the crisis in West Asia lies in the occupation of the historical land of Palestine. Its comprehensive, just and permanent solution is also to provide the necessary ground for the complete and free realization of the right of the Palestinian people to determine their destiny through holding a referendum among all the original Palestinian residents, including Muslims, Christians and Jews with the help of the United Nations
