Iran's response also says that Israel is trying to obscure its "ongoing aggression against Lebanon" and its violations of international law and United Nations resolutions.
Iravani further addressed another Israeli claim from April 13, 2024, maintaining that Iran's actions on the same date were in self-defense, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, particularly in response to an Israeli attack on Iranian diplomatic premises on April 1, 2024. He emphasized that Iran has never initiated conflict with Israel and has no plans to do so, but it reserves the right to defend its sovereignty and national interests under international law.
The letter concluded with a request for the UN Secretary-General to circulate it as an official document of the Security Council, signaling Iran's intent to engage with international norms to address these disputes formally.
