Tehran (IP) - The Iranian ICT minister said that the first phase of the National Chabahar Space Launch Base in southeastern Iran will be finished in 2025.

Iran PressIran news: Isa Zarepour, Iranian Minister of Information, and Communication and Technology (ICT)  on Wednesday at the sideline of the cabinet weekly meeting told reporters that Chabahar Space Launch Base will become a very strategic base in the country's space industry and the first phase of its construction will be finished in next year.

The base's site is around 5x5 hectares. It is run by the Iranian Space Agency.

Iranian ICT minister said that the space base will have experienced its first launch by the end of the current Persian year. 

In Phase 2, the launch site is planned to be open for space launches of foreign countries' satellites too. Phase 3 will enable the launch of rockets with solid-fuel launch vehicles.

The National Chabahar Space Center is scheduled to be fully operational and capable of carrying out international space launches by the end of March 2031.

The Imam Khomeini National Space Center, Iran's inaugural fixed launch site, has played a pivotal role in the country's space endeavors since its inauguration in 2012. This facility encompasses all stages of space missions, from satellite preparation to launch, control, and guidance.

Situated 80 kilometers southeast of Semnan province, the Imam Khomeini National Space Center effectively fulfills Iran's requirements in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) during its final phase.
