Tehran (IP) - The Head of Iran's Department of Environment said that as a result of coordination with the ruling state in Afghanistan about 60 million cubic meters of the Helmand River in Afghanistan was released to enter the Iranian soil.

Iran PressIran news: Ali Salajgheh told reporters on Wednesday that there were deviations in the waterway to Iran from the Kamal Khan Dam in Afghanistan, which he expressed hope would be removed for the betterment of the Iranian wetlands. 

He mentioned Hamoon Lake in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, southeastern Iran, as one of the important issues affected by the water share and reported that 50 percent of the wetland is loaded with water. 

Taliban had earlier admitted in 2023 that Iran's water share should be released from the Helmand River.
