Iran-India ties to expand

Iran (IP)- "Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar will stop in Tehran this week," Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

Iran PressIran News: Addressing a press conference, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh on Monday said: “Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar will stop in Iran this week to meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

This is the second visit of a high-ranking Indian official to Iran this week. Indian Minister of Defense Rajnath Singh, who plays a key role in Narendra Modi's government, traveled to Iran on Sunday on an unannounced visit to meet with Iranian Defense Minister Amir Hatami after a three-day visit to Moscow.

Khatibzadeh stated that Iran is looking for good neighborliness with all its neighbors, adding: "Our relations with India are multi-layered and deep. One of the dimensions of cooperation is the fight against terrorism and providing security in the region. As a regional power, Iran wants to play its role in balancing security in the region."

Referring to the recent visit of the Indian Defense Minister to Tehran, Jaishankar had called Iran's relations with India multi-layered and deep, saying: “Iran has a single foreign policy in which defense diplomacy, cultural diplomacy, scientific diplomacy, and public diplomacy, etc., each has its own place, and balance in foreign policy is a principle for Iranian diplomacy.”

Iran's Chabahar port is very important for India for various reasons, the most important of which is the strategic position of the port. As tensions with its neighbors, including Pakistan and China, continue, India has decided to build a new route to reach West and Central Asia and expand its interests in landlocked Afghanistan.

The port of Chabahar, located in Sistan and Baluchestan province in southern Iran, in the Oman Sea, facilitates India's access to Afghanistan by sea. The Indian government is committed to investing $ 500 million in the development of Chabahar, and $ 5.1 billion has been spent to build a complex of roads and railways.

In the past two years, India has exported several shipments of goods to Afghanistan through the port of Chabahar.
