Iran Press/Middle East: Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is in Damascus to meet with Syrian officials, met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Monday afternoon, discussing the bilateral ties and the issues of mutual interest.
The Foreign Minister also met with the Syrian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem to discuss various issues.
Zarif arrived in Damascus this morning heading of a political delegation and was welcomed by Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad.
