Tehran (IP) - Protecting the lives of the people both against the corona and against the severe economic effects is the main approach of the government, Iran’s Government Spokesman Ali Rabiee said.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iran’s Government Spokesman Ali Rabiee on Twitter stressed that the government is pursuing a health-oriented policy.

On Saturday night, Ali Rabiee tweeted, "Maintaining a health-oriented policy, in addition to a dynamic health system, requires a strong economic base to sustain the lives of those who are in crisis due to unemployment and declining inevitable income."

He added, "Protecting the lives of the people both against the corona and against the severe economic effects is the main approach of the government. So the government is pursuing a health-oriented policy."

"However, smart physical distance planning and the balance between health and the economy will work when social capital is at its highest level," he added.

Rabiee also noted that: "We must also make a surge in the production of social capital. Iran can offer an acceptable model to the world if it builds trust between the people and the government and balances health and the economy."

After receiving separate reports from the ministers of 'Interior' and 'Health and Medical Education' on Friday on the implementation of the Smart Distancing Programme from Saturday and the reopening of low-risk businesses in all provinces except Tehran, Hassan Rouhani stressed that the Programme must be closely monitored, and all health protocols announced by the Ministry of Health must be fully observed.

Worldwide, the total number of infections recorded since the beginning of the outbreak reached more than 1,777,000. The global death toll has neared 109,000.

In Iran, more than 70,000 have been infected with COVID-19, nearly 4,357 have died and the number of recovered patients has reached 42,000.
