UN Security Council held a closed-door meeting on the situation in the Middle East after the assassination of Martyr Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani.

Iran Press/America: Following the assassination of Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani who was martyred by Pentagon under the direct order of US President Donald Trump, On January 3th the UN Security Council held a closed-door meeting on the situation in Syria and the Middle East.

 The meeting, which had been requested by France and the UK in order to discuss the humanitarian situation in Idlib, is expected to be overshadowed by the news of the targeted assassination of Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani.

Lieutenant General Soleimani was assassinated along with several senior members of Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) and its leader Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis on Friday Morning 3 January at Baghdad International airport.

Lieutenant General Soleimani was awarded by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei as the first Iranian military official to hold Iran’s highest military order, the Order of Zulfaqar after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Lieutenant General Soleimani has been named in the list of top Global Thinkers in the defense and security in Foreign Policy (FP)’s 2019.
