Press/Iran news: Touring and Automobile Club of the Islamic Republic of Iran (TACI) organized a vintage car parade in Tehran on Wednesday 14 August 2019.
Well over 50 Iranian and foreign vintage cars are taking part in a rally round Tehran. The vintage and classic vehicles date from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, the majority of which are manufactured by Volkswagen and the rest by Mercedes Benz, BMW and Iranian carmaker, Iran Khodro (Peikan).
The aim of organizing such a tour is preserving and protecting vintage cars in the Iranian capital Tehran. The tour kicks off from Niavaran Cultural-historical Complex in north Tehran, and the vintage cars will make their way through Tehran city center, and some of the major boulevards and streets, stopping at the headquarters of the Cultural Heritages, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization near Azadi Tower.
Touring & Automobile Club of the Islamic Republic of Iran is an institution at the vice presidency and the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization. It also has links to the tourism industry in Iran.
What this club does is to facilitate travel for owners of vehicles abroad or foreign tourists wishing to travel to Iran using their vehicles. The institution also helps develop tourism by establishing tourism information offices both at home and abroad, as well as developing infrastructure and tourism services.
Safa Ahmadi, head of TACI, says: "Iran is a pioneer of vintage cars and home to some of the oldest, most valuable and precious, classic, and vintage cars in the Middle East region."
