Failed at max pressure, US resort to max deceit: Zarif

Iran's Foreign Minister said that the US failed in its 'maximum pressure' policy and resorted to 'maximum deceit'.

Iran Press/Iran news: The Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, wrote on his twitter account that it's an illusion that the US and its allies think that weapon superiority brings military victory.

Zarif went on to add, "Blaming Iran won't end disaster. Accepting our April '15 proposal to end war & begin talks may."

On the very same day, the Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi also reacted to remarks by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo regarding the recent Yemeni drone attacks on Saudi oil facilities, saying US 'maximum pressure' policy changes toward 'Maximum lying'.

While the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has accused Iran of attacking the Saudis' oil facilities, Mousavi said that “Such accusations as well as blind and futile comments are pointless and not understandable within the framework of diplomacy”.

“In international relations, even ‘animosity’ must have some minimum requirements and logical frameworks to be believable, but US official have ignored even these minimum requirements,” the spokesman added.

“Such comments and actions are more like planning by secret and intelligence services to tarnish the image of a country in order to set the scene for future moves,” he said.

The spokesman concluded by saying that the only way to establish tranquillity in the region and put an end to the useless crisis in Yemen is to halt attacks and aggression by the Saudi-led coalition, stop Western countries’ political and arms support for the aggressors, and make efforts to work out political solutions.

Yemeni Army and Popular Forces on Saturday hit two Saudi oil refineries of Buqyaq and Kharis in eastern Saudi Arabia, deep inside the country.
